3A-B2 Booster Station Upgrades
Under a $1,869,000 contract with Quest, the City of Phoenix replaced the entire existing Booster Station 3A-B2 system which is located in a growing area of North Phoenix. The new system increases the capacity and performance needed to service this highly populated area. The project required extensive planning, scheduling and coordination efforts to address restricted site access and neighborhood concerns. Quest constructed many of the new facility components such as the 36” diameter underground yard piping, electrical duct banks, utility relocates, concrete foundations, booster pumps, hydro-pneumatic tank systems, mechanical piping and electrical equipment while the existing facility remained operational.
Upon completion of the new improvements, Quest performed the switch over from the existing facility to the new system during an expedited schedule. Water facility shutdowns were minimized through extensive coordination efforts with City of Phoenix operations personnel.
Throughout all phases of the project, Quest provided and maintained permit compliance, traffic control, plant site security, erosion control, SWPPP compliance and water facility access coordination. Final completion of the project in January 2007 included painting, site grading and complete demolition of the original facility.
